Oh. My. God. You could NOT have said it ANY BETTER (only you forgot the skinny jeans/leggings and the loose cropped tops)! The fashions I see in the stores right now are atrocious! Hideous! Designed for, as an internet friend of mine once said, women who look like giraffes. If you have a real body, don’t bother shopping.
Note to all fashion designers: the 80’s were bad, fashion-wise. Very very bad. Why can we not learn from our mistakes?
DW – I just didn’t have enough room to express how many horrible styles are out there. Yes, the cropped, gathered hippy top with garish fabric is also unwearable – straight out of public school from the 80s. Even skinny 16 yr old models look bad in today’s fashions. Black leggings under super short dresses (for summer?) also baffles me. What happened to crisp A-line dresses/skirts that hit just above the knee and DON’T have ruffles? And clothes with waists? Grrr.
Oh, god. The black tights over mini skirts or dresses. I had blocked that out of my memory.
